AI regulation in the EU: what is the right mix?
The European Commission has recently presented its proposal for a
future regulation on AI. This proposal aims to chart a European path to
AI development and innovation in data-intensive systems.
Several components are combined in the regulatory mix created by
the Commission, with a focus on fundamental rights, conformity
assessment, supervisory authorities, certifications, and many other key
points.
Looking at the ongoing debate within the academia, civil society,
business circles and the society at large, the roundtable webinar will
discuss this regulatory mix.
Are fundamental rights at the heart of future AI? Is the risk-based
model designed looking at the main challenges that AI will pose in
future years? Are enforcement and oversight solutions adequate?
Which impact will this regulation have on competition in the AI market?
What is the relationship between the future legal framework and the
various ethical guidelines outlined in recent years?
After an initial tour de table with 5-minute statements on the main
strengths and weakness of this proposal, this and other questions
relating to the EU Artificial Intelligence Act will be discussed by panelists
with different backgrounds and points of view.
