Law and Globalization International Research Centre

The Law and Globalization International Research Centre was established in 2018 as part of the scientific initiatives of the Department of Excellence project. The centre is essential to two of the department’s macro-objectives, namely to promote dialogue between the field of law and other fields of knowledge and to study the impact of major social changes on contemporary legal systems.
Indeed, the centre aims to be an advanced forum for reflection and research, open to intersections between law and multiple related sectors, such as economics, history, international relations and technology, in order to promote the refinement of the analytical tools of the jurist and to improve understanding and governance of the complex reality of globalization.

Grandangolo Paolo Ferro-Luzzi European Banking and Finance Law Interdepartmental Research Centre

Grandangolo is the Paolo Ferro-Luzzi European Banking and Finance Law Interdepartmental Research Centre, promoted by three university departments, Law, Business Economics and Political Sciences, and administered by Professors Concetta Brescia Morra, Mario Bussoletti, Stefano D’Addona, Sabino Fortunato, Giulio Napolitano, Maddalena Rabitti and Andrea Zoppini.

The centre aims to facilitate debate on the extent of the significant regulatory changes affecting the European financial sector over recent years. This debate is crucial for dealing not only with economic impacts, but also with the protection of the rights of individuals and businesses. The centre intends to establish a stable exchange with other Italian and European university institutions and research centres in order to encourage the circulation of ideas and research on the process of integrating rules and institutions across Europe. The centre is dedicated to the memory of Professor Paolo Ferro-Luzzi, a distinguished scholar of the subject.

The centre is open to professors and researchers from the contributing departments, as well as to scholars from other Italian and foreign universities and institutions involved in the sector. The departmental members contributing to the centre make up its Board of Directors. The centre’s Scientific Committee is made up of professors and academics from other Italian and foreign universities and research institutes, as well as of scholars from public and private institutions concerned with the topic covered by the centre’s research.

The centre’s Director is Concetta Brescia Morra, full professor of Economic Law.

The centre’s Vice-Directors are Professors Giulio Napolitano, full professor of Administrative Law, and Andrea Zoppini, full professor of Private Law.

The Executive Council is composed of the Director, the two Vice-Directors and three members of the Scientific Committee, Stefano Cappiello, Director General of the Italian Ministry of the Treasury, Marino Perassi, Advocate General of the Bank of Italy, Stefano Vincenzi, Head of Mediobanca’s Legal Service.

The Administrative Secretary is Dr. Giuseppina Santilli of the Department of Law.

To achieve its objectives, the centre aims to implement a series of strategic activities, including the promotion of conferences, conventions and seminars, the creation of an information network among scholars, the establishment of specialized publications, the encouragement of relationships and collaborations with national and international cultural and scientific bodies, and the offering of expert advice and consultancy.

The centre is committed to promoting the training of young scholars through support for completion, specialization and advanced training courses and internships, as well as through contributions in the form of scholarships and research grants. For its research activities, the centre relies on a research group made up of researchers, research fellows, doctoral graduates and students and other scholars that can be assigned by the Board of Directors with the title of Centre Research Scholar and offered departmental scholarships or other forms of remuneration for research activities.

To carry out its activities, the centre makes use of contributions made available by each of the departments, funding from the university and research bodies, research funds from the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) and National Research Council (CNR), contributions from international bodies, the European Union, the Italian State, local authorities and public and private entities, and the proceeds of activities carried out on behalf of third parties.

CRISPEL Giorgio Recchia Political, Constitutional and Comparative Legislation Studies Interdepartmental Research Centre

Giovanni Pugliese Centre of Excellence in European LawLink identifier #identifier__116187-10

The Giovanni Pugliese Centre of Excellence in European Law was established by Rectoral Decree No. 953 of 24^th May 2001, and aims to promote the legal sciences with regard to European legal and political institutions in order to build foundations for the formation of a common legal experience within the European area, informed by the essential general framework of Roman law and tradition.

Interuniversity Research Centers

lola The Laboratory on Longevity and Ageing (LoLA) is a network of researchers from different disciplines that deals with issues related to longevity and population ageing. Its main aim is a better understanding of the demographic, social and economic consequences of the progressive lengthening of life. The higher longevity and better health of population challenges Italian and European societies to pursue healthy and active ageing, and an efficient welfare state. European governments have already modified labour market policies in order to meet these challenges, but the process need to be monitored for its implications on other priorities posed by population ageing. These priorities are present in the Agenda 2030 for sustainable development of the UN, with the goal “ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages”. On this line, the aim of the laboratory is to offer a scientific contribution of ideas and to create a forum for debate and action as well as participating to research projects both at national and international level.

Roma Tre – UNIDROIT Centre for Transnational Commercial Law and International Arbitration

In April 2023, Roma Tre University School of Law and the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) constituted the Roma Tre – UNIDROIT Centre for Transnational Commercial Law and International Arbitration, with the intention to implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two institutions on 15 November 2021.

The Centre aims at promoting research and scholarly debate on transnational commercial law and international arbitration. Primary attention will be dedicated to research on topics of transnational commercial law related to UNIDROIT’s uniform law initiatives, projects and instruments.

The Centre also aims at developing and coordinating research projects, promoting conferences, seminars and workshops, and producing specialised publications in order to disseminate the results of the research. It is further intended to establish a stable dialogue on these issues by fostering relations and promoting collaborations with universities, national and international scientific bodies (both public and private) and the private sector.

The Centre is directed by Prof. Maria Chiara Malaguti (President of UNIDROIT) and Prof. Giacomo Rojas Elgueta (Professor of Private Law at Roma Tre University School of Law).
