This course analyzes the impact of digital technologies on private law. First, it provides a comprehensive and systematic overview of the EU legal framework. Second, it examines how digital technologies are reshaping traditional categories of property, contracts, and liability through an in-depth analysis of e-commerce, digital goods, digital platforms, blockchain, smart contracts, and cryptocurrencies. Methodologically, while legislation will serve as the starting point for the analysis, case law and the reconceptualizations proposed by legal scholars will provide an essential perspective. This multi-layered approach will equip students with the knowledge and independent thinking skills necessary to address the legal and economic issues of our increasingly digitized society.
