PUBLIC LAW DISCIPLINES

The Doctorate in Public Law, divided into two curricula, carries out advanced training and related scientific research in the sectors of legal experience related to public law: administrative, constitutional, criminal, tax, international and European law, with the aim of providing doctoral students with a rigorous and open training, in methodology and content, capable of responding to the needs that question, indeed challenge the scholar of public law, as well as the legal practitioner in today's social context. To this end, both classic and innovative teaching methodologies and both traditional and technologically advanced tools are used, with the intention of training the doctoral student in an approach that is able to combine the in-depth study of the specific problems of the individual disciplines with the necessary multidisciplinary perspective of research, in the wake of an ever-increasing awareness of the substantial uniqueness of the legal method and the commonality of its fundamental assumptions. This, in order to ensure an overall view of the legal phenomenon that, rather than to the detriment of a disciplinary training oriented to the in-depth study of the various disciplines, is able to constitute a robust reference base, capable of making the individual disciplinary paths more solid and equipped. Constant attention is also paid to consolidated and ongoing developments at supranational level, and at European level in particular, in order to analyse the most marked perspectives and trends in the various fields of interest. In order to achieve these aims, the doctoral programme aims at internationalisation, encouraging the inclusion of foreign doctoral students and developing scientific and teaching cooperation agreements with other universities and research centres. Although the field of choice for the training provided by the PhD is undoubtedly that of scientific research, the proposed course is intended to provide a solid specialised preparation in the publicist disciplines suitable for guaranteeing high-level job opportunities in the public, proven and supranational sectors. Doctoral training will be divided into two levels: 1) general legal training, aimed at highlighting, on the one hand, the uniqueness of the legal method and, on the other, the specificity of the various disciplinary approaches (this training will be concentrated mainly in the first year of the course); 2) specialised training in the chosen curriculum and legal discipline (concentrated in the second and third year of the course). The division into two curricula, comprising homogeneous legal disciplines, makes it possible to organise training that is targeted to the specific needs of the research direction.
