The course aims to offer an original perspective on the Roman law through the masterpieces of the great artists whose paintings represented the Roman past. Topics studied include the role of religion and myth in ancient Rome, politics and warfare, the status of women and other subjects pertaining to the Roman World. By the end of the module it is expected that students should have the knowledge and understanding to account how each artist has interpreted the ancient Roman world, and why does this world inspired painters.

The teaching method aims to promote learning through online lessons through MicrosoftTeams. Are considered non-attending students those who have less than 24 hours (12 lessons) of attendance in class.Modalità Valutazione
Attending students: The examination will take place for every student with an interview (on S. GALEOTTI, De Chirico e Lucrezia Romana, Pisa: Pacini editore, 2023), in which the knowledge of the subject will be further examined. Attending students, if so desire, can make a supplementary reading which will be taken into consideration in the final evaluation. Non-attending students: The final exam will be oral and it will focus on S. GALEOTTI, De Chirico e Lucrezia Romana, Pisa: Pacini editore, 2023. The final grade is expressed in letters. C corresponds to a sufficient, yet low and basic, knowledge of the subject; B shows a more than sufficient / discreet knowledge of the subject; A shows a good or very good knowledge of the subject as well as a commendable critical skills. A+ corresponds to a very good or excellent knowledge along with high critical, analytical and connection skills. Language of the oral exam: Italian
